A heads-up on teaching the iPhone new words
Authored by: MJCube on Mar 29, '09 02:46:59PM
I was under the impression that spelling dictionary learning is all per-app on iPhone. I could be mis-remembering, but in 1 year of constant use I seem to get prompted for the same new words the same number of times in each app. If true, this is a really good feature because we type in different ways in different apps. E.g., I want AIM to pass over my idiosyncratic chat abbreviations, but not Mail or internet search boxes. The teaching takes longer but the learning is much better.

(I only wish I didn't have to tell every app I don't want my initials corrected from MJ to JK. I have no idea why iPhone suggests this.)
