Don't forget to de-authorize the various applications that require it before you remove the old drive. Examples are the iTunes Store and many Adobe applications. I wish that Apple had this functionality built into the OS so you could not have to remember which ones to do and how to do them. Or better yet, have a way to transfer them all at once to the new machine.

You don't have to deauthorize iTunes if you change the HD. As far as iTMS goes, it's the same computer.
