Upgrade to 10.5 Server without reboot on newest Macs

I'm not sure I understand this process. You've got a new Mac mini running 10.5.6, in the Finder. You insert a Leopard Server DVD (10.5.4?) and do what? It usually prompts you to restart. In the past, to upgrade to OS X Server you would need to find the right .pkg and install it to the boot drive. Is this any different?
