Add Bookmark dialog sheet preference stopped working with 4 Beta
Authored by: magnamous on Feb 27, '09 05:58:42PM

As I recall, there is a defaults preference setting (as opposed to an add-on) to change the way the dropdown menu looks in the "Add Bookmark" dialog. Instead of showing the entire hierarchy of folders, it shows the top-level folders as a list. Mouse over one of the folders, and it shows you the list of sub-folders in a sub-menu. I had it set that way in 3.2.1 and MUCH preferred it. I just noticed that that setting seems to no longer work in the Safari 4 beta. It's been so long since I changed the behavior that I can't remember where I found the hint.

I tried searching all over the MacOSXHints and the Internet to find the preference setting for this (thinking that perhaps 4 Beta changed it back), but I can't find it anywhere. If anyone knows what it is, please post it! (All I can remember is that whoever posted it referenced the fact that it works this way in another browser—Firefox?—and that they were pleased that it could be changed in Safari.)
