Reclaim drive space by deleting iPod/iPhone firmware
Authored by: picto on Feb 18, '09 04:31:38AM

Can these files be re-used? ie applied to a different machine as a file copy rather than a download?

My daughter is mostly off-line (basically restricted online status) and I take other updates over on a stick, but these updates are not available as downloads from Apple - they require iTunes being online and the iPhone connected.

Also they are big files

So it would be useful to just copy the file to allow her to update her iPhone to 2.2.1

Any experts know?

I see no reason why it shouldn't work. Just make szre to copy the correct firmware file to the correct location on her Mac and do it while iTunes is not running.
