i don't think older wireless cards are compatible with WPA2 security, which is what 802.11n uses. when you set it to B/G only, it's probably setting the security to WPA.

i would advise you to get a dual-band router (i use a linksys wrt610n) so that all your B/G devices are on 2.4ghz and all your N devices are on 5ghz. then you can have WPA/TKIP running for B/G and WPA2/AES for N.
