Set QuickTime Player icons for non-standard file types
Authored by: alxp on Dec 02, '08 08:32:16AM
It seems to me that there should be a simpler way to do this, but if there is, I'm not aware of it off the top of my head (other than pasting a custom icon on each file, which is definitely not a good solution if you have a lot of these files.
Like that for example http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/25243 ? Or am I missing something?

What about selecting one of the MKV files, going to the Get Info box, choosing the QuickTime Player in the popup list of the "Open With..." area and click the "Modify all.." button ?

That only allows you to open the file in QuickTime. It doesn't change the Finder icon.
