ASCII passwords for WPA are hashed with the SSID to create a hexadecimal password anyway. I don't know the details of the PBKDF2 function, but I found a site that will do the conversion for you. Thereafter, you can just use the hexadecimal version of the password to connect.

I have found a similar problem with my Macbook, having my employer a "ñ" in the WPA password. I just cannot input this non-ASCII character in the Airport utility (in fact, I tried using the airport command line utility with no luck). Introducing the hex equivalent would work?

No, that site will not work with non-ascii unicode characters. Technically, they aren't supposed to be used. This site seems to accept non-ascii characters in the passphrase. Give it a try. It takes forever, though you'll only need to do this once per network.

If only you'd answered my question on the Apple support forums when I posted it there, I wouldn't have had to go to that trouble : )
