How to clean the Mighty Mouse's scroll ball

I keep a roll of electrician's tape on or near my desk. When my mouse stops scrolling I take about a 4" piece and put it sticky side up on my desk. I hold it down with my thumb and forefinger at each end. Then with the other hand, I turn the mouse upside down and run it over the tape in all directions until it's back in action.

I used to use scotch tape, but electricians tape seemed so much stickier and with the black tape it's easier to see the grime collected. I either avoid those areas of the tape or get a new piece. It usually takes about 30-60 seconds to get the mouse back to normal, and I try to clean it once a month just to be proactive.
