How to use a new iPod with an old Mac

OK smarty pants, if software is your main problem thats easy just update your OS dude! Worst case, buy an external HDD and installed the newer OS X on that if you do not want to get rid of the the old OS for one reason or another.

But the real question is, how to get past the hardware limitations that Apple has put on the newer iPods? Now they no longer allow for using Firewire and are strictly USB 2.0. SO if you have a perfectly good 17" widescreen G4 sunflower iMac with only firewire and USB 1 ports your screwed.
As far as I know there is no way to ad a USB 2.0 port to that, unless someone knows something I don't.

If you're using an old Power Mac tower, you can add a USB 2.0 PCI card.
