Yes, obviously security by obscurity is no security at all *in theory*, but given the number of ssh attack-bots that only go for port 22, and don't bother with a port-scan, in this case it gives some good practical results.

If you're hosed with your SSH port at 28376, you're *even more* hosed with it at 22.

Agreed, you're less hosed if you change the SSH port. But see my reply to tempel above - why go for partial security when you can just lock down the whole thing?
