Disable the Genre column in the iTunes 8 Browser
Authored by: RobertBen on Sep 10, '08 05:24:55AM

Maybe because I had Genres enabled when I updated, but in View > View Options... (Command-J) I still see Genres and I can activate and deactivate it.

So is my iTunes 8 special or didn't the writer of this hint know where to activate and deactivate this option?

You're misreading it. Go to the list view and do apple-b (view->show browser) - he's referring to the 'genre' column at the left of the three panes that apple-b toggles on and off.

Yes, the option to turn the genre option on and off is still in View Options, but that is not, I believe, the column that this hint is talking about (and yes, I was confused about it as well). The genre column that this hint appears to be describing is the column in the upper portion of the browser - the one that is used to filter the displayed tracks, not the genre column in the actual track listing (i.e., the one controlled by View Options).
