One way to disable the iPhone's typing auto-correct
Authored by: tisar on Sep 08, '08 08:14:38AM

A much faster workaround is to simply type in front of a random letter. The auto correction is automatically off as you type _in_ a word (since it corrects with the last letter). That makes it easy to switch between auto correction and plain writing within the window. Just type a letter, place the cursor in front of it and type whatever cryptic thing you like without getting bothered by the auto correction.

Greets

Your proposed solution is not faster, as it would take invoking the bubble magnifier every time one wanted to avoid auto-correction. In fact, aside from the initial setup for josesensei's hint, the solution you suggest is much slower and more cumbersome.
