10.5: Create any mobile phone plug-in for iSync
Authored by: dksp on Jul 30, '08 10:41:35AM

I did this for my Nokia 6500c a few months ago. It took me about 20-30 minutes to figure out how it work and how to get a working plugin (knowing that I'm not a developer at all). And another 5 minutes to create the icon.
But as said, it might not be that easy to do this for any phone available.

The full set of 4 automated test scenarios (each with hundreds of individual tests) takes many HOURS to complete over a USB connection, and even longer via Bluetooth.

If any errors come up (and they always do) you then have to go back and debug the plugin and re-run the tests.

There's also all the various SyncML protocol settings, which are meaningless if you're not familiar with SyncML technology and terminology (it's a big subject!)

Finally, there's all the 'real world' non-automated tests described in the documentation.

20-30 minutes is simply not enough time to create a fully tested, 100% passed plugin with no errors.

Try running the plugin you created through all the tests - there's thousands of them, so be prepared for a long wait and considerable debugging!
