This has always been a problem for PC users receiving emails from Mac Eudora users. (Although I don't remember purple blobs, only garbled or "corrupted" files.) I generally try and remember to drag-and-drop to the header section of the email.

on a related note:
I have overall been very happy with Eudora's beta product, however, when receiving in-line attachments in some formats, the attachment has been converted in some strange way into a pdf. In particular, illustrator files have been affected by this. The file even opens fine in illustrator, but it appears as a pdf, and is somehow viewable in eudora.

Has anyone else experienced this?

Illustrator files ARE pdfs.

Well, more precisely, native Illustrator files up to 8 are EPS, and native Illustrator 9 files are PDFs. They just traditionally get saved with a '.ai' extension and Illustrator as the associated application..
