Create Smart Collections in Font Book System 10.8
You remember Font Book, right? That's the built-in app that OS X offers for organizing and previewing fonts. In Mountain Lion, it gained a feature to make organization a little simpler: Smart Collections.

They work just like Smart Playlists, Smart Folders, and Smart Mailboxes. Option-click the Plus icon at the lower left, or choose File -> New Smart Collection.

Filters in your Smart Collection can include Family Name, Style Name, PostScript name, Languages, and Design Style. That way, you could make a collection that consists of, say, only English, italic, sans-serif fonts.

Create Smart Collections in Font Book

What I'd really like is an easy way to identify accurately all non-English language fonts, so that I could disable the foreign language fonts. I tried to use the Smart Collections for this purpose and was un-successful...

+1 for being able to use Smart Collections with Font Book. Leave it up to Font Book to make it completely useless.

I just tried making a Smart Collection of all my serif fonts (any of the following: design style = serif). I got a whole whopping 4 fonts. And Times was not included! So, I tried the sans serif fonts, with language = English. I get 93 fonts, which also includes Thai, Korean, Japanese. Not helpful! I'm guessing it has to do with the metadata or something. Either way, in its current state, it is not worth using.

The "Language" feature is wonderful for me. I used it to identify all of my Hebrew fonts. Thank you!
