You may have seen the news: the latest update to the Apple TV (2nd generation or later) allows you to use a Bluetooth keyboard. This makes searching for things much easier; the non-keyboard interface is slow and clunky. If you want to use a Bluetooth keyboard with your Apple TV, you can see this Apple technical document which explains how to set up a Bluetooth keyboard with an Apple TV, how to disconnect the keyboard, and how to troubleshoot common problems.

Use Bluetooth keyboard with Apple TV
I haven't paid any attention but... while using a Bluetooth keyboard is a nice-to-have on the AppleTV isn't there a way to send the text input from your handheld iOS device keyboard to the AppleTV search fields?

The free remote app ( http://www.apple.com/apps/remote/ ) has been around for ages & allows use of the iPhone/iPad keyboard and a lot more.
Remote App Limitations
I use the iOS Remote app to enter text on my Apple TV, but there are limitations. The Remote app provides a keyboard on the iOS app for use in text fields on the Apple TV, but the interface between the Remote app and the Apple TV is over the WiFi network. If you are configuring the Apple TV to join a WiFi network, the Remote app is useless because the Apple TV is not on the network, yet. This means you cannot use the Remote app to enter the network key. In principle, you could use a Bluetooth keyboard to configure your network settings (I have not tried this).
Remote App for iOS Devices Works a Treat
For years, the free Apple "Remote" app, has provided keyboard interface for the AppleTV (back to 1st Generation even).

I saw the news from Apple, but I'm wondering if it would work with 3rd party apps (if you jailbreak) like XBMC. Anyone know? I know the remote app does not.
