Send Growl notifications to Notification Center System 10.8
If you use Growl, you might find it a bit overkill to have some notifications come through Growl and others to Notification Center. Mountain Growl pipes notifications from Growl to Notification Center, but there is one caveat: all these notifications will have the Growl icon, and not the icon of the application that sent the notification.

This is just a stop-gap, as Growl 2, to be released soon, will support Notification Center directly, but in the meantime, you might find this a useful solution to group all notifications in one place.

Growl 2 also only shows the Growl icon. That's just a limitation of Notification Center. You can't pass it a custom icon. It will only show the icon of the app that sent the notification, which is always Growl.

However, that only applies for notifications generated from the Growl 1.x SDK. If apps use the Growl 2 SDK, it'll use Notification Center natively, eliminating that issue.

Since most people don't want to build this from source, a link to the download page rather than the source page is probably the most helpful.

Or, just wait

As apps get updated, they'll just move to using the Notification Center natively.

Really, why do we need two different notification technologies? Just use the one that's now built into the OS.

Disclaimer: I stopped using Growl when they started charging for it.

I've also seen Bark, too. Don't know how well any of these three work, though.

Until Apple gives users the option to have Notification Center notices appear in any corner (I won't hold my breath on that) I prefer Growl. Wish there was some way to pipe Notification Center messages to Growl instead.

"Bark" is in my opinion the best solution so far until Growl team update Growl to work with notification center barkplug.in
