Email link to web page from Safari in Mountain Lion System 10.8
The email a link command in Safari seems to have disappeared, but it's actually just hidden behind a keyboard shortcut. Command-Shift-I opens a new email with a link to the current page in Safari.

It's still there but moved.

Safari > File > Share > Email this Page

You can also install a toolbar icon for either Share (Add to Reading List, Add Bookmark, Email This Page, Message, Twitter) or just Email.

if you select menu File/Share and hold down the shift key, you get the goods.

It's still there, just in a new place: File > Share > Email this Page (becomes "Email Link to this Page" when you hold shift).

Thanks to both for the hints.

Come on Apple, why are you hiding so much behind shift and option keys?

Just use the Customise Toolbar command and drop a Icon there.

Too bad the link appears AFTER your signature. At the office, my signature is quite long with a privacy policy and such.. Link unfortunately gets burried.

I don't know about 10.8 (as I do not have it installed yet) but earlier versions of MAIL if you goto Preferences > Signatures - there is an option Checkbox at the bottom of that dialog to "Place signature above quoted text".

If it is unchecked it places the link above my signature.

If it is checked it places the link below my sig.

Again - I don;t have 10.8 installed so I don't know what they may have changed.

Another way to do it: Use the iOS-style Share button on the toolbar. This will open a new email in Mail.app. In the new mail, you will see "Send Web Content As:" with the option to send it as Web Page, PDF, or Link Only.
The PDF option is going to be very useful to me :)

You can also use the share button on the Safari toolbar and select "Email this page." The new mail window will have a dropdown entitled "Send Web Content As:" where you cen select "Link Only" (or PDF, which is cool). It seems to remember your setting in this dropdown, so the next to you email a webpage "Link Only" will still be selected.

Put this javascript in your bookmarks bar as a bookmark. Clicking on it opens your mail client with the websites URL pasted in the body of the email.

javascript:location.href='mailto:?SUBJECT='+document.title+'&BODY='+escape(location.href)

I like the method of using the icon, then choosing "link only" in the resulting message. Apparently Mail remembers that preference, which is a good thing. If I had to keep changing that every time it would be annoying. Still, I have to ask, was this change to the UI really necessary? Is it really an improvement? This kind of rearranging the deck chairs is not progress IMO.

The email link button is now in the Share button, right to the left of the address bar.

Click on it and you get a list of ways to share the web page you are on. I only found this after clicking on the button to see what it does. But that's what I do the first day I have a new OS installed. Go and kick the tires.

You can also use the keyboard shortcut.

You can also quickly mail a link via the Mail toolbar icon (to add it, View > Customize Toolbar… and put the mail envelope icon where you want it).

Unlike the Share arrow button's Email this Page command, this button will only start a new email with the link; you aren't given a menu to change what is sent (Reader/PDF/etc).

Frankly I think it's vestigial.

(And besides I prefer an AppleScript that sends the link + HTML title from the page.)
