This hint solves a long standing problem when playing classical music on an iPhone. When using the iPhone Music app (iOS 5.1), the full entry (e.g. name of artist, album or song title) for an item can be too long to be displayed. Tap and hold entry to see the full entry pop up. Tap and drag your finger down the list to make the pop up change as you drag. This works for album titles, song titles, and artists names.

[kirkmc adds: Nice. I hadn't heard of this before, but searching the web shows that it is not totally unknown. Since it hasn't shown up here before, it's worth posting.]

Nice hint, but I don't understand why it's only an issue for classical music?

Mac Berry, it is more of issue for classical music since track titles in this genre can get very long (albeit packed with relevant information). Here's two example track titles...

Track 4 from a Beethoven album:
Quartet in A minor, op. 132 IV. Alla marcia, assai vivace--Piu Allegro--attaca:

Track 3 from a Schubert album:
Divertissement A L'Hongroise In G Minor, D 818: Marcia. Andante Con Moto-Trio

This problem also comes up with long podcast titles.

By the way, I was very happy when iPhones and iPods Touch at long-last caught up to the non-Touch iPods in their ability to display long track information (non-Touch iPods since the early models havehad some way to scroll long track information, often by auto-scrolling in certain display contexts. The recent trouch-screen Nano has a nice 'swipe to scroll track info' feature.

Can't get it to work on the iPad.. :-(

Also frustrating that it's not possible to add other metadata to the display, like BPM or notes..

As far as I can tell, this method is generally true of any truncated text in iOS applications. Why bury this as an iOS iTunes-only Classical music-only hint?
