Despite all its shortcomings I prefer Safari. That being said, I have Firefox and Opera in the dock and use both when Safari won't do. I would say I prefer Opera over Firefox for speed and compatibility. Two days ago I tried to use a financial site and neither Firefox nor Safari would work--Opera did.

Camino does everything I need from a browser. It's the only one I have used every day for as long as I can remember.

I always used firefox until they dropped the ability to view pdf's in window. Still use firefox occasionally when a site does not work on Safari.

I use Chrome or firefox. I will not use Safari until I can remove or disable the TopSite feature and history. ---

I dumped Firefox a few months ago, because it kept using more memory and slowing down. Now I just use Safari, and keep other browsers around for testing.

I have used Firefox for many years and have always been on the Beta Cycle, and have only a few problems, but I like the layout.

Safari and Google Canary, both about equally. Canary is fast and I may start using it as my principal browser. Firefox occasionally....

I am still using OmniWeb. I payed for it (and still would do so again) when it wasn’t yet free. I would consider using Safari for its benefits like iCloud integration, but unless it gains at least SOME of the features OW has, I don’t want to. I love OW’s sidebar tabs, its workspaces feature, the shortcuts, the site prefs and whatnot…

I'm very fond of Camino. I've been using it since it came out. It's simple, no clutter, looks good, is fast enough in most cases, fantastic history, cookie management, and one or two other things. There are some things it doesn't do well, and for those I switch to Safari, Firefox, or Chrome. I also use the latter three to do Javascript development, since Camino seriously lags behind in that area.

This week I have Chrome set as my default though I find I have to switch between Chrome, Firefox (latest), Firefox 3 and Safari, and sometimes fire up windows to use FF 3 for VMware console sessions. Hmmm, open standards...

I use Safari, but think it also suffers from memory bloat and sometimes slows down everything. Newest versions better. PDF issue in Firefox is a killer. Like Chrome, but it keeps losing all of my extensions, including 1Password, and I got tired of constantly restoring them.

Opera, although (or because?) it produces the coolest glitches. Last week I couldn't access Mapquest because popups kept kicking it off the screen entirely. (Other browsers worked.) I like Opera's layout though, and the speed. Firefox remains my fallback.
Browser wars poll #11: Which web browser do you use most on OS X?
I use Firefox because I find it much, much faster to use than Safari. Does it ever take a long time for Safari to load the url's on each of the tabs!! I cannot believe how slow it is compared to Firefox. I may as well walk away and come back in 10 minutes. I just have 3 or 4 windows open with maybe 6 or 8 tabs open on each one in Safari. It takes it forever. I have near immediate loading with Firefox and I have 6 windows open with about 10 tabs on each window, and it loads in seconds. I have no idea why Safari is so slow, and if it is this way for others, I cannot fathom how they can stand to use Safari. I do love the pdf opening in the regular window, though, on Safari.

I have always found Camino to be both compact and very quick. Unlike Firefox or Safari, it NEVER crashes!
Browser wars poll #11: Which web browser do you use most on OS X?
I used to use Firefox primarily and Safari secondarily. Lately though, FF seems to have gotten much slower and I switched back to Chrome as my primary browser.

I used Firefox for years, mainly because I frequently used sites that didn't work well with Safari. Firefox became such a resource pig, I finally moved to Chrome for just about everything. I am pretty happy with it so far. I use Safari for sites not compatible with Chrome.

Chrome. I especially love that in the browser content settings preferences, you can choose Click to play for Flash and other plug-ins (no extension needed), and create exceptions as well. Also that each tab is an individual process. I found FireFox used too much memory.
Browser wars poll #11: Which web browser do you use most on OS X?
Firefox, reluctantly since it crashes frequently and consumes a lot of resources. I've tried to like Safari, but I don't, and it doesn't allow pinning tabs. Chrome is pretty good, but it doesn't work on a lot of sites and now Google is tracking users. I like Opera, but some sites complain about it. It's frustrating.
Browser wars poll #11: Which web browser do you use most on OS X?
Call me old fashioned, but I use Firefox because of ad-block and no-script. Do other browsers have these "capabilities"?

Been using Safari for years. Never have had any reason to switch. Runs beautifully. I used to be tied to a PC machine at work and had to use the MS program which was disgusting. Thank Zeus for Macintosh!

I run a nearly Flash free system, thus I usually use Safari. I find it is much faster than before as long as it hasn't stored a billion Favicons and there aren't a thousand extensions. Also the non-flash environment makes it seem much more responsive. |
