Preview recent documents in Preview.app Apps
Just discovered this by accident. While in Preview.app when you when you slide three fingers down on your track pad you can get a preview of the top most recent documents opened in a Cover Flow-like menu along the bottom go the screen.

[crarko adds: This is another of those things I wasn't able to reproduce with the Magic Trackpad, so I don't now if this is the result of some setting or perhaps a third-party utility I don't have. Try and see if you can make this work, and please post your results in the comments if you do.]

this is true for all apps, at least those behaving properly.

It didn't work for me either on a MacBook. I am curious if it's a plugin or a setting also.

This is merely invoking Application Exposť. It's a standard feature in Lion, and works in most document based applications.

Indeed - and it works whether or not the application in question is running. And certainly works with the Magic Trackpad without third-party utilities.

It was also mentioned back in this hint: http://hints.macworld.com/article.php?story=20110725182407723

I think he is refering to the "show recents" command when you click and hold an icon in the dock and supports such service.

Yes, it's document expose'.

Moreover, if you hover over a document based app's dock icon and do the three-finger-down swipe, it will give you the display for that app regardless of which app is in the foreground or whether the app is running. (This is a reason to keep non-running apps in the dock.)

On Magic Trackpad, this didn't work with a 3-finger swipe, but did with a 4-finger downward swipe.
May just be how I have the trackpad configured.

I think it's due to having the 3-finger swipe enabled as mine is the same. Uses 4-fingers.
