10.7: Click while swiping to move over two Spaces Desktop
I just discovered this, and I'm getting used to it. It is a bit unpredictable until you get the motion correct.

While swiping with four fingers through spaces in Lion, click the trackpad just as you begin the swipe. This will skip a space and move you over two spaces. It takes a little getting used to, but works great after a while.

Clicking the mouse while swiping with the other hand doesn't seem to affect this, so the whole action apparently needs to be done with the same hand on the trackpad. Only tested on a 2008 MBP.

[crarko adds: I couldn't get this to work with the Magic Trackpad, but it could be that configuration dosen't work, or maybe I'm just too sloppy on the gesture and timing. Give this a try and tell us your results in the comments.]

Having just tried this, I wasn't able to do it either.

I suspect one of two things is going on here.

1 - The person who submitted this hint has a trackpad that is damaged somehow so that when he clicks and swipes it registers as two separate swipes. ("Its not a feature, its a bug!")

2 - The submitter is having a bit of a prank on us, getting us to perform awkward gestures on our pads. (Cue up the Rick Astley!)

I just don't believe that Apple would choose to make such a clumsy gesture part of their systems.

I managed to reproduce this, but it's pretty buggy -- in the sense that I think the behavior is also the product of a bug. I had three spaces: Desktop, iCal, Mail. I click+swiped from Mail, and it did manage to swipe all the way over to my Desktop. But in the process, iCal managed to create an appointment with the name of the message that I had been looking at in Mail. (This happened twice in a row while testing.) Like I said, pretty buggy. I imagine similar strange consequences could be generated for any other intermediate application that you're trying to swipe past.

This did not work on my iMac with a Magic Trackpad or on my MacBook Pro using the built-in trackpad.

This works for me (with some practice!) on my 2009 MBP - and by clicking twice you can go 3 spaces at once!

Works for me at MPB 2009 using built in trackpad. Although it needs some practice to work :) Also double clicking trackpad while swiping works.

I'm not sure about this one. I'm getting it to go two spaces by clicking, but I think it's just detecting two swipes. I can get the same thing to happen by lifting my fingers and putting them back down half way through the swipe. I think the click may just be seperating two consecutive swipe motions. It's easier to just swipe twice really quickly, which does the same thing but more reliably.

I got this to work on my side, but it seems more like a bug than a feature :)

Holding down the trackpad mouse while in the middle of the swipe gesture, the border between the spaces seems to jiggle, like its unsure what you want to do.

Dragging your one finger during this process moves the spaces back and fourth, much like the four-finger drag (as its configured on my MBP)
