Out Of Office setting for Exchange in Mail.app Apps
In Mail.app on Lion (and possibly on Snow Leopard as well) there are no obvious options to control out of office settings. For Exchange users, it appears the only option is to use Outlook Web Access (OWA).

However, there is a way to do this in Mail itself. Once the Exchange account is setup, right-click on any folder or sub-folder of the Exchange account and choose Get Account Info. Make sure the account in the drop down shows your Exchange account. Your second tab will say 'Out Of Office.'

Interestingly, mine shows the last OoO config that I had last setup in OWA meaning it read the data from the Exchange server (this is convenient when you want to keep the body of the message the same and only change the applicable dates). Options are included for different auto-replies to internal or external entities and the ability to set it to run only for a certain time period (so we don't forget to turn it off).

Basically all the functionality found in OWA is available in the Mac Mail client.

[crarko adds: I don't currently have an Exchange 2007+ account setup to try this with. Go ahead and post your results in the comments.]

No such luck on Snow Leopard, but works on my Lion install. Thanks!

It appears to be Lion only, I'm connected to an Exchange server, under Snow Leopard the option for OOO isn't present, however, on my Lion machine it is. In fact, no need to use the Get Info command on the mailbox (I had selected the inbox for that account under the Inbox menu), you can simply right click and the OOO option is in the contextual menu.

Didn't work for me, but I think it might be a problem with my Exchange server. When I select the Out of Office tab, I get "The primary SMTP address must be specified when referencing a mailbox" error over and over until I force-quit Mail.

Just wanted to revisit this and report that it works now that I've resolved a problem with my configured e-mail address not precisely matching the address that Exchange had on file.

Awesome hint! This is extremely buried and incredibly useful.

In the new mail.app, at bottom left of the window is a little 'gears' icon. Click on this icon and select 'Get Account Info'.

For the account selected, you should see and 'Out of Office' button. Select this and have fun!

I had to toggle mine on and off a few times both from outlook on the PC and on the mac to get my settings to stick. Exchange 2007.

Worked like a charm for me in Lion (10.7.2). Thanks, I would have had trouble finding this almost hidden functionality were it not for this hint.
