10.7: App Exposť shows list of recent documents System 10.7
Using App Exposť (which can be enabled from the Trackpad pane of System Preferences) allows you to see a list of recent documents in supported apps.

Go to System Preferences » Trackpad » More Gestures, and check the box to enable App Exposť. When you perform the gesture (swipe down with three or four fingers) in a supported app, you will see the expected Exposť behavior, but now you can also see a scrollable list of recent documents along the bottom of the screen.

This works with Apple apps such as iWork, Garageband, iChat, and Preview, and also with at least a few third party apps. I tested with Acorn and Pixelmator which both worked, but my copies of Adobe Reader and Sibelius 6 did not.

[crarko adds: Feel free to note other applications which do (or don't) work with this in the comments as you discover them.]

BBEdit version 9.6.3 (2890) does it as well
this is not the newest version that has just come out.
Great tip, BTW!

You don't have to enable the gesture for app Expose, this works no matter how you invoke it; gesture, hot corner, or F10.

Picky I know, but the hint read to me as if it depended on gestures :)

iChat and screen sharing work too BTW.

Is this only of you enable the feature, "restore windows when quitting and re-opening apps"? Because I'm not seeing this in any of the apps I've tested, including all the ones that are said to work in the original hint.

What if you don't want to show recent documents?

Can the display of recent files be disabled? In 10.6 (and all prior versions) I have chosen not to display recent apps, documents or servers. Is this setting even still available in 10.7 and if so does App Expose honor the setting?

What I found really sweet about this hint, is that it sees recent documents of non-running apps, so I have QuickTime not running and click on it and see its recent documents.
