Switch between windows in Excel 2011 Apps
I frequently have more than one window open in many programs, and I've gotten used to the standard keyboard shortcut to switch to the next window, Command+` (backtick/tilde). This was standard in Office 2008 as well, but this no longer works in Excel 2011 (though curiously it does work in Word 2011).

The keyboard shortcut to switch to the next window in Excel 2011 is now the rather cumbersome Ctrl+Tab. Similarly, switching to the previous window is Ctrl+Shift+Tab.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to figure out a way to change Excel's behavior to respect the old shortcut, which is otherwise unused. There's no menu command for switching to the next window, so you can't change it by customizing the keyboard shortcuts within Excel, or within the Keyboard System Preference.

[crarko adds: I haven't tested this one. Command+` is the standard shortcut for cycling windows in Mac applications; I'll guess Microsoft changed this to be more like the Windows method.]

Command-` works fine for switching windows in my version of Excel 2011. Perhaps you have something interfering with the standard key mapping in your setup?

The legacy method still works fine for me. Control+tab works as well though.

Works for me, as well. Sounds like something is in conflict.

The standard CMD + ` works for me.

The most annoying thing for me is that the you cannot use the keyboard shortcuts to switch windows when linking cells in one workbook to another. If you do, the cell in the first workbook is deselected. However if you switch using the Window menu, it works.....

Expose works fine too, including for linking between workbooks.

I have no idea what you are talking about.
I had the Beta version before it was out and have the current release and all the apps in office 2011 have the behaviour of Cmd Tilde to switch windows and always have.
Just tried it now and excel switches between windows.

Cheers

Don't be too hard on this guy. I have the exact same problem. I assume it is some add-on that is interfering, but I don't know what it is. Doesn't work in Excel, does work in Word. Using Office 2011.

I have the same complaint with using Excel 2011. My command + ` works for toggling between windows within other applications, however, it no longer works within Excel and I use this all the time. I've had no luck finding a solution in the help section of Excel. If anyone has a solution, it would be greatly appreciated.
