iPhone lock screen reminder iOS devices
If you're like me, you often need constant reminders. I have a sure-fire way to keep you abreast of your important notes. My tip gives you an easy way to put those important items front and center using the iPhone/iPad lock screen wallpaper.

To make your reminder, open the Notes app on the iPhone or iPad and write your notes. For me, these are usually little reminders or simple to do lists.

Next, take a screen shot by holding in the home button and pressing the iPhone lock button on the top of the phone or iPad. You should see a flash on your screen and a camera shutter.

Next, find the screen shot you took in your camera roll in the photos app. Press the arrow on the screen to set the photo as your wallpaper, resize and position your photo as needed, and assign it to your lock screen.

Now, next time you power up your iPhone or iPad, you'll see your note before you even unlock your phone.

This is also a great way to make a simple shopping list and refer to it while in a grocery store without having to unlock your phone each time.

[crarko adds: This is one of those simple sounding ideas I wish I had thought of before. They don't have to be complicated to be useful. I can think of several uses for this one off the top of my head.]

If you jailbreak, the lock-screen actually becomes useful. You can get iCal reminders, notes, ,sms's, calls, and emails along with weather, and whatever else you feel like putting up there.

Apple's neglect of the lock-screen is one of the many reasons I jailbroke.

I've been jailbroken for a while, but have never bothered to try messing with the lock screen. What are the main programs to get from Cydia that let you do these things?

You want to look at lockinfo in the cydia store. Then there's a bunch of lockinfo plug-ins there as well. I think there is a competing product (cydgets?), but I've been using lockinfo for years.

Another vote to LockInfo.
it's actually worth it's price if you use it a lot (try it for a few days first)

This is an easy way to create an “If found” image for the lock screen too.

Simply create and “If found please contact... ” note, take a screen shot and set that to your lock screen.

To be fair, static images (wallpaper) are very easy to implement without jailbreaking.

I'm shocked by the low quality of the hints on this site. What was once a valuable source of information has become a wasteland of me-too hints with no substance. Great job, MacWorld. You've managed this website right into the ground. Bring Rob back or do the only other decent thing and shut the doors.

A simple solution to a simple problem: Categories.
Customize your likes and preferences, and only see those. Either that or big round buttons at the top to give you the choice.

Complainers like you make me laugh. This site has a mixture of hints.. for all user levels. It's not like there are forty hints a day for your to sort through, just scroll past the ones that don't interest you. If your time is too valuable to do this, I wonder how you find time to read and post comments on hints that don't interest you.

I consider myself an expert user, and I like this hint.. might even use it sometime.

PS. if you are such an expert, maybe you should consider submitting some of your expert knowledge as hints so the rest of us can bask in it.

Speaking of low quality hints...that certainly was one. Please try to contribute, and not waste everyone's time with negativity.

Wondeful. I've been trying to find out how to lock the screen at least for iBooks on a 2nd gen iPod Touch. There is no app dock at the bottom of the screen to show the lock!

Android has something like this i wonder if iphone does ..
it lets you put a tag right on the lock screen to remind you of anything..not that fancy though.
