Please avoid this drag-and-drop nightmare of selecting the top five topics... ---

The fourth page of the survey requires drag & drop, which doesn't work on my iPad.

Sorry, I won't do this survey because I am not allowed to leave questions unanswered if I choose to. ---

I started the survey, but stopped after a few screens. The design is kind of clumsy. For example, I'm not sure how to answer the Website Visitation page. I read many of those sites through Google Reader. For some I've never gone to the actual site. Plus, the columns are so far apart it is a little difficult to tell which site I am rating. I missed one site and got an error when I tried to move to the next page. The error message told me I missed a site, but it did not tell me which one. The widespread columns made it hard to find the blank row.

Was it just me, or was the selection of web sites rather thin? There are many tech-related web sites I visit on a regular basis, several daily, but the form makes me look like a web-avoider! ---

I will make sure this feedback is available to the designers of the survey.

It's ironic that the survey itself seems to be lousy, making it useless for its intended purpose---finding out thoughts about MacOSXHints... ---

Top five topics my hairy yellow butt
I don't visit OS X Hints on a daily basis for TOPICS. I read what's useful or interesting and bookmark what will be useful in the future. I couldn't skip the question so I skipped the survey. ---

It would have been useful to mention up front that this survey is only interested in people in the US.

Indeed. (In fact, I believe my employer does have some US employees, but very few -- less than in each of many other countries.) ---

I would like to second the previous comments and ask whether anyone from Macosxhints actually did the survey before posting it. Having had some involvement with online surveys before I seriously doubt whether you will gain any useful information from this as the questions are not well defined or are unable to be answered by many users and the design is so bad that many users will give up before completing as some have already stated in previous comments.

The drag n drop is too much of a pain scrolling all the way up with a drag, so I bailed.
Please help us out
How ironic that the first question that mentions an iPad, cannot be answered on an iPad.

I did complete the survey. Many questions have little to do with MacOSXHints, are impossible to answer truthfully, or seem directed to US public only. At the the end you are taken "back" to Macworld (a site I never visit). How can this clumsy and annoying survey be of help to "make MacOSXHints better"?
Very poorly constructed survey
I, too, only made it halfway through before I became too annoyed to continue.
Painful
worst survey I have ever tried to take. the drag'n drop is crap

Please fix this awful survey. I gave up on the drag&drop nightmare page. It's unnecessarily spaced out, uses drag & drop, and dropping doesn't always work. You must have lost 90% of people on that page. I might try again if you fix it.

Fail. Would love to help, but survey no worky on iPad. Quite silly really.

This is a great site but the survey doesn't work on an iPhone--the drag-and-drop question, and can't bypass it. Ironic given the tech savvy owners and users of this site.

come on people, the survey is fine. Too bad if it doesn't ask the questions you want it to ask. Stop the whining.
terrible survey
I stopped with it after the 4rth question asked me why I was visiting macosxhints and none of the check boxes included the obvious "to read the damn hints". What's with not being able to skip irritating questions about gender.
terrible survey
I think they want to know why beyond just reading the hints. Otherwise, that's what the "other" is for.

The drag and drop page is a total usability nightmare.

No more using of the site to help Rob Griffiths pimp for his current employer would help out the site...

OK, thanks again for making the attempt. I am sending this input to the folks who produced the survey, and hope it will have a positive effect. |
