Use a hidden gesture to change volume in Logic Express 9

In Logic Express 9, it's neat that you can zoom in the Arrange window with the pinch gesture on the trackpad, but in using this gesture, I inadvertently discovered another.

For the selected track, you can adjust the volume slider by using this gesture: leave one anchor finger stationary on the right half of the trackpad. Swipe another finger up and down on the left half to control the slider. (This also works if the anchor is on the top half, and the swiper goes left/right along the bottom half.)

I looked in the manual and searched on the web, but was unable to find documentation on this non-standard trackpad gesture in either location. I know that this works at least on a MacBook Pro (13", model 5,5), running 10.6.3 and Logic Express 9.0.0.
