Use Magic Mouse to scan forward in iTunes Apps
My local all news radio station creates a podcast of the early morning and afternoon news. While listening to the podcast they include commercials and traffic reports--which are useless when I listen. Usually, I will click on the iTunes progress bar to advance the play pointer... until one day, I slipped my hand across the Magic Mouse!

Once you click on the progress bar to give it focus, if you slowly swipe your finger across the top of the Magic Mouse you can advance the play pointer. While I am listening to my local radio station's podcast, I can slide the play pointer past the traffic report and to the weather. You can control the speed and how much the pointer moves based on the speed and directions based on the movement of your finger on top of the Magic Mouse.

It's not an Earth-shattering hint, but it's cool!

Actually, this doesn't require the Magic Mouse, or clicking in the track info area. I do this with my Apple Mouse (nee Mighty Mouse) all the time -- I hover the cursor over the song progress bar and, without clicking, scroll left and right.

Also works on laptop trackpads with 2-finger scroll. The window need not even be in front.

You can move back or ahead in iTunes by scrolling up/down or left/right. The volume slider responds the same way.

QuickTime Player seems to respond only to left/right scrolling to move the playhead, but volume can still be changed in either axis.

Also works in VLC, up/down is volume and left/right is time. Bit tricky to only change one but you learn.

This works on my Wacom Bamboo pen and touch, too. This is very handy because the scrubber is very tiny when working with large files and the ffwd button on iTunes is difficult to use with a mouse - it's very easy to just skip to the next file.
