10.6: Change the size of Grid-style List View Stacks Desktop

Snow Leopard only hintFor those who have used this hint to create Grid-style List View stacks, you might be interested to know that you’ve gained an additional feature that none of the other views have: zooming.

While in a list view stack, press Command-Plus to zoom in, or Command-Minus to zoom out. There are five different sizes available. This feature does not work in any other view, and it doesn't work in List View Stacks that haven't been modified to appear in Grid View style.

Very useful. I used the "grist" option (grid-list) to get a nicer style, and this made it even nicer. Thanks!

Nice. This is the closest thing to the old OS 9 springloaded tab folders which I used extensively, and I like this ability to scale the view.

Amazing, this is how stacks should be by default. It's really the only tolerable display method. I was looking for a way to resize grid icons because of the truncated names, and also for a way to enable dragging out of a list view. This is the best of all possible worlds. Thanks for reposting the original hint too.

Interesting find to add to the original hint. I've kept going between the normal list view stacks and this option, but in the end I prefer normal list view because it expands to show full filenames and it doesn't try to load icon previews and so tends to look better.

This option even at the smallest size shows the awesome dashed outline icons for which OS X has been famous since stacks came about, and especially since snow leopard. Also with HD root as a stack this causes icons in the Applications folder to not load properly - all jagged until you zoom within that folder in the stack.

Anyway, cool that new stuff like this is still showing up. If there were a way to fix the bug with nested sorting in snow leopard stacks that would be great :).

This doesn't seem to survive restarts. Is there a way to force it?
