Run Star Trek Online without resorting to Boot Camp Apps
Frustrated that the Star Trek Online MMO game left out support for Macs? If you have an Intel Mac, you can get around that problem, even though the game has no official support for OS X. Of course, you can install it using Windows in a Boot Camp partition.

But if you don't like leaving the safety of Mac space, you can run it in OS X using the brilliant open source utility Wineskin. It's quite simple to set up, and works amazingly well. You'll need the free Wineskin setup file for Star Trek Online [44MB download], and here's some more information about it from the Cryptic/Atari forum site.

Even if you take this route, I suggest you leave a message on the Star Trek Online board stating your interest in an official Mac OS X version in the future.

I don't really care about Star Trek online, but I saw the Wineskins link, and thought I'd mention Wine Bottler, which I've used, and it works well: http://winebottler.kronenberg.org/ (it does something similar, and has a prettier icon).

While WineBottler is a program made for using Wine on Macs.. and Wineskin uses Wine as well... they are very different. Mainly in the fact that Wineskin has a built in X11 that can be set up how it needs to be, not using the system default X11. It has full screen that is a bit better and easier to use, along with supporting resolution switching you cannot do with normal X11.app.... making Wineskin much better for gaming. There are many differences beyond that as well.
