Comments are now editable Site News
This was one of the promised features from the Geeklog upgrade, and after resolving an issue with the theme, it's finally working -- at least, it's working in my testing. Feel free to leave a comment here and edit it to make sure it works for you, too. Note that there's a one-hour time limit on changes to comments.

We're still working on the character set issue; hope to have progress on that front shortly.

I Change the permissions for my external hard drive to NO ACCESS now I can't mount it or see it
Authored by: rochmann on Nov 16, '09 01:30:53PM

I Change the permissions for my external hard drive to NO ACCESS since I'm sheering some folder with other users and now I can not mount it or see it in the finder.

It shows up in Disk Utility and System Profiler but not in Finder. I've verified and repaired and neither of those things seem to help.

Is there any terminal command or something that I can do to get into the HD to change the permissions?.

I have all my office back up docs on that HD.

    Please Help!!

    Hi Guy,

Probably not the best place for this kind of query - unless you are just testing as this was intended for.

I had no intent to imply anything except that this was posted as a reply to a msg about the commenting system for this site.

I would try reposting to the System forum and include whay format the drive is (FAT, NTFS, HFS+...) as well as what you change the privelages to and might help to know what version of system you are running.

    Best of luck,
    jOhn

Sweet! I like fixing my screw^H^H^H^H^Hmesses.

Hmmm.. Have to remove my sig during editing. No biggie.

The "Edited on..." line shows up in a weird, spot, though.

Sweet! Editing is great but I LOVE the "Notify me of new replies" box! (Assuming it works. Quick, someone reply to this so I can verify!)

I wish there were no time limit. I like to correct my mistakes if I find them. Still, editable comments much appreciated!

I just noticed the "Notify me of new replies" checkbox. It seems to only be available when I make a comment, but never again, so if I didn't check it when I posted a comment, I can't change my mind later and decide to get notifications. I would love to be able to just click a thingy on a thread that would "Notify me of new replies" regardless of whether I commented, or not.

Maybe it's available and I just don't see it....
