10.6: Run FreeHand in Snow Leopard Apps
FreeHand won't run in Snow Leopard, apparently due to a permissions issue. The solution is just copy two Macromedia folders from the previous system into the same relative folders in the new system:
/Library/Application Support/Macromedia
/Users/myaccount/Library/Application Support/Macromedia
After that, FreeHand should run perfectly. (Only tested on FreeHand 11.0.2.) [robg adds: I haven't tested this one.]

There is now an easy fix for this available direct from Adobe:

I did an upgrade from 10.5, and had no problems running FreeHand without any fixes.

Neither of the above solutions works for me. Anyone else have problems with 11.0.2?

i'm new to this forum but a freehand user since '90. i'm also delaying the purchase of a 27" imac with snow leopard due to concerns i have over MX running well. As many have stated, I've got thousands of files which I constantly refer to done in freehand over the years. Though I have Illustrator, I consider it a translation tool of last resort. It does not function for me the seamless and intuitive way Freehand does. I think in FH.

If Adobe doesn't care about Freehand enough to support us all and get it right, Apple should know that sales of their
products are being held up. It can not take that much effort for the code writers/programmers working at Adobe to make us all happy. We don't even need a new version. Just make sure Freehand works!!! Come On Adobe (and Steve Jobs)

As we speak I'm using a MacBook Pro with TIGER!!!!

I have been using FH for years, and have installed and used the latest versions. But have gone back to the best combination of FH 10.4.9, with Tiger 10.4.11. I have a new Imac 27" running snow leopard, but this creates an issue with the import window in fh, where it defaults to a small size, so that every time you import you have to drag it bigger - can't seem to get around it - very annoying, as you can imagine how often you use it.

Also, can't seem to find software that displays WYSIWYG fonts in FH with Snow Leopard - was using You Control Fonts - really excellent, worked really well in Tiger. Now in the text window you get a complete list of the fonts without see them graphically.

Was hoping to get the 27" to run on Tiger, but it won't. Didn't like FH MX for it's rediculous grouping and outline app feature.

So, still working happily on the previous latest model Imac 24, just want bigger and faster - as always! the 27" is sitting there gathering dust!

Install latest version of Freehand. Download the registration file from Adobe and install it into /HD/Library/Application Support/Macromedia/. Start Freehand and be happy.
