10.6: Work with a small Mail window Apps
Although MiniMail is not 10.6 compatible, Mail.app itself works quite well even with a very small window. With the mailbox list and the message body panes and the toolbar hidden, you can still view messages by double-clicking them, and if you start to drag a message from the message list toward the left, the mailbox list pane opens until you've completed the drag and drop.

[robg adds: I found the behavior not quite perfect on our iMac -- the mailbox list would open when I dragged a message over it, but wouldn't collapse all the way again if I dragged the message back out instead of dropping it. It does, however, work better than it did in 10.5, where I wasn't able to completely hide the mailbox list.]

Not for me. When I hide the mailbox pane and start to drag a message to the left, nothing happens. Why?
