10.6: Possible fix for Photoshop CS4 hangs in Snow Leopard

I use Photoshop for several hours every day, and have been doing so for many years. So not having Photoshop available for me is a problem, as my work is based on it (from books and articles for magazines and sites to iPhone applications).

After installing Snow Leopard, I started experiencing beach balls of death in Photoshop CS4, specially after opening large images. My first thought was memory issue of some sort, and apparently I was right. I have an iMac with 4GB of memory, and Photoshop was eating 2GB of the 3GB I typically have available for use. I reduced that value to 1.5GB (in the Performance section of CS4's prefs), and no more beach balls. At least none since I reduced this setting.

[robg adds: Adobe doesn't list any known Snow Leopard issues for Photoshop CS4 on their Creative Suite 4 FAQ page. They do list some minor CS3 issues, however.]
