Switch Financial Institution on existing account in Quicken Apps
My Wamu accounts are now accessible at Chase.com, and I needed to change the Financial Institution setting in Quicken, but I couldn't because Quicken was giving me all sorts of weird behavior (telling me that Chase requires exactly a four-digit PIN, errors during download, etc.) Just a lot of weird stuff.

I was finally able to do this while testing out whether a new account would work. To change the Financial Institution, click New in the Quicken account list to set up a new account. Choose Chase as the Financial Institution, then Online to set up the account. Put in your Chase.com credentials, and it will look for your accounts from Chase.

Here's the cool part: when you are shown the list of accounts Quicken has found, you can choose to skip the account, create a new account in Quicken, or use an existing account. This effectively allows you to change the Financial Institution without all the problems you get using the Edit account dialog.

Obviously, this worked for me. YMMV.

I approached it a little differently after Chase balked at my login credentials in Quicken. I disabled Download Transactions (not enabled) in the Edit window for the Wamu account, then downloaded current transactions from Chase website. When opening the file it asks you whether you are setting up a new account or want to apply the web-link to an existing account. Worked great for me!

I left out a step above. In order to select the account at the end, you need to have disabled online downloads first (in the account editor).
