Fix a non-responsive 'Tap to Click' on Mac laptops Laptop Macs
If "tap to click" is enabled and suddenly stops working, a quick cycling of the option will fix the problem without rebooting. System Preferences » Trackpad » Tap to Click.

Uncheck then re-check, and the problem will be fixed.

This has always been the one feature of a trackpad I have hated. Regardless of Mac, Windows or Linux. It is also the first feature I turn off on any laptop.

I discovered this hint on my own shortly after I got my new MacBook 8 months ago. I wish there was more info about why it seems to get "stuck". It doesn't happen very often, and I haven't been able to find any single event that causes it.

2008 Alu Macbook - this happens about once a month, wake from sleep and no tap-to-click. as the hint's author describes, turning it off then back on fixes it.... until next time...

This happens to me whenever I change the date (for various reasons :D). When I put it back to the correct time the tap to click function comes back. Very strange.
