Identify misnamed photos in iPhoto '09 face matching Apps
Following on the heels of the not a face hint, here's another iPhoto '09 face matching trick I've noticed.

When looking for matches for a person, iPhoto will present a list of faces that it thinks match. If you click on Confirm Name, then you can accept or reject names as you would expect (using clicks, drags, option-drags, etc.). But as of iPhoto '09 8.0.2, you can also control- (or right-) click on the face image itself to show a contextual menu that lets you not just state that a face is right (Correct) or wrong (Reject), but to actually identify that face (Name).

With this change, my workflow for tagging faces has gotten simpler. First, I option-drag to reject all the faces iPhoto suggests. Then, I click or click-drag to confirm the guesses that iPhoto got right, or I right-click to specify the known ones that iPhoto got wrong (or mark non-faces as 'Not a face,' or frequently-suggested strangers as 'Stranger'). That way, I minimize seeing the same faces over and over, because each identifiable face only has to be scanned (by me) once.

Thank you. This is very helpful and will substantially reduce the amount of time to finish tagging faces.

I had a little trouble with the various "XXX-drag" things until I started dragging OUTSIDE of a picture. Then the dragging worked as advertised.

Interesting.
Seems not documented anywhere. Curiously, it is not even localized (it appears in English on a French OS)

you're still performing unnecessary steps by first rejecting all photos.

instead, skip that step. just control-click on the pics that aren't a match and rename them. by doing so, they're automatically rejected. no need to manually reject them, first.

then after you've eliminated all of the rejects, you can confirm the remaining matches in one fell swoop.

Sorry but can you clarify what you mean by 'renaming them'. What is 'them'? Faces? Or the photos? Seems like it would be a lot of work to do either.

This isn't how iPhoto seems to behave for me. If I don't explicitly reject faces, they tend to get suggested again.

The fastest workflow I've been able to think of is to explicitly reject them all first (which only takes a few seconds, just option-click and drag a rectangle over all the photos iPhoto suggests), then add back the matches and correct the mismatches.

For me, if I omit rejecting the mismatches, then most or all of them will still be there after I click the [Done] button. While it does seem like they'll eventually go away as iPhoto scans for a fresh batch of matched photos, the way I do it feels like it's faster & more responsive -- I get the result I expected right away, rather than possibly-maybe getting that result a few minutes later as new faces start to appear.
