If you hate the default Gmail Notifier menu bar icons as much as I did, you'll be relieved. I took Chris Ivarson's beautiful Gmail icons and adapted them for the OS X Leopard menu bar.

Here's how to install the new icons:

  1. Download the icons from my blog.
  2. Quit Google Notifier
  3. Locate the Google Notifier icon in your Applications/ directory.
  4. Control-click on Google Notifier and select Show Package Contents from the pop-up menu.
  5. Navigate into Contents » Resources.
  6. Place the icons of your favorite color there. You'll be asked to overwrite the existing ones, click Yes.
[robg adds: I don't use Google Notifier, so I haven't tried this one. I did mirror the icons on macosxhints, just in case the original entry ever vanishes.]
