Interesting that this only works in iTunes. You'd think that it would also work in the Finder or System Preferences, for example. But if history has been a good guide, features of the iTunes interface will soon seep into the interfaces of all other OS X apps.

Only the [cmd][shift] versions works for me. (Mac OS X 10.5.6 and iTunes 8.0.2)

You can also hold shift and click on a button in the tool bar. Same effect.

In fact hold shift and drag a Safari tab into a new window. This will work for many things.

Oddly, this seems not to work when switching between the "Sharing" and "Store" panes, but does work when switching between the other panes.
Song info panes too!
Related to this and IMO more useful: ⌘[ and ⌘] also move between panes of the Info window. Also ⌘1~⌘7 will go directly to a section, as described in this hint from 2003.
Command-numbers 1~8 also work in the Preferences window, including Shift for slow mo if you like that (although ⌘⇧3 and ⌘⇧4 are reserved for screen shots by default). There's no animation in the Info window, so Shift makes no difference there. |
