Create an iPhoto-like folder view in the Finder Desktop
To create an iPhoto-like size-adjustable icon view of a folder, just put "" (with nothing inside the quotes) in the search box in a Finder window. Set it to the folder of interest, and to search by name, and choose icon view.

Now you can see a view with the zoom scroller on the bottom right. Very useful to see images or videos on folders.

[robg adds: This is a variation on this older hint, which used a smart folder to display a narrow range of results with the slider; this method just opens it up to all files within a folder. Alternatively, as noted in the original hint, you could just opt to leave the View Options window open instead, as it contains a slider for icon size (as well as grid spacing).]

Create an iPhoto-like folder view in the Finder

That's a useful hint. Thanks!

I'm not sure about this (mainly because I'm using a school lab's iMac right now), but it seems to me the same trick works if I merely type a single blank space, instead of two quote marks.

Typing a single space works for me as well.

This is very useful, but actually you can type in any search word (with or without the "") to define a search, and the icon size scroll bar is visible in Icon view.

Create an larger than 128 pixel icon view in the Finder
Authored by: asher on Feb 23, '09 04:24:41PM

This hint is directed to photograph viewing. The largest icon view in the Finder is 128 pixels. The method in the hint will create an icon view which is one tenth the size of the original. If the original file is a picture of say 4000 pixels wide, the hint creates an icon of 400 pixels with the slider all the way to the right. This is quite a bit larger than the 128 max shown in the standard Finder view. Cover flow shows yet larger views. Still I'd rather use bridge.
