Do you have trouble with iCal notifications that you've accepted coming back as new notifications every time you launch iCal? Try as you might, you can't kill these zombie notifications. Every time you launch iCal, each will be back like the proverbial bad penny, no matter how many times you've accepted or deleted the event.

Not only will the notification come back, and the accepted event turn grey (tentative), but this also causes iCal to always show the date of the first notification when you launch, instead of today's date. Here's how to kill these zombie notifications permanently:

  1. Quit iCal.
  2. Locate and delete the offending notification(s) in ~/Library » Caches » com.apple.iCal » Incoming.
  3. Open iCal and sigh in relief as the notification is gone for good.
Hope this helps!
