I'm pretty sure this is a new feature of the 2.3 update. If you add a Show label (under the Video tab) for a group of movies (for instance, Star Wars) then they will all show up in a sub-folder of that show name. So now, instead of seeing a long list of Star Wars: Episode I, Star Wars, Episode 2, etc., you just get one item with a little arrow next to it indicating there's a sub-folder.

Works really damn nice.
Group movies together by label on Apple TV
I must be stupid. I don't see a Show label or a Video tab for that matter. Is this in iTunes or on the ATV? In iTunes I have a Movies tab and a TV shows tab, no Video tab.

I just updated my Apple TV and my iTunes and I see nothing about 'Show Label' anywhere...??
Group movies together by label on Apple TV
For those not finding this, in iTunes, highlight the group of movies you wish to show together. Then Get Info (COMMAND-I), click on the Video tab, then put the "label" into the "Show" field -- there is no "Label" field, you are using the one named Show. Hope this helps.

Thanks! That last tip did it for me... works fine... very nice feature!
Group movies together by label on Apple TV
This totally rocks! and now that you can have Movie Playlists and they are visible on the AppleTV, my life is much better. Just having 'My Recently Added' to the playlists saves a ton of time instead of scrolling through the movies.

I have tried this off and on since the tip first appeared. I still have no luck making this work. I added a name in the Show field in the Video tab for multiple movies. I even went back and checked individually to make sure the text was still there. No change in the list view, nor Grid view. Not change in Front Row either. |
