Change the iPhone/iPod touch's Notes font iOS devices
First, go to Settings » General » Keyboard » International Keyboards, click into the Japanese keyboard, and enable the QWERTY keyboard.

Next, open Notes, and start typing a note. Click the globe icon next to the Space Bar to switch to Japanese, and type a character. When you do, the Notes font will change from Marker Felt to Helvetica. Here's a demonstration video.

[robg adds: This works, and the note will remain in Helvetica even after closing and reopening Notes. You can even delete the Japanese character you typed -- once the font has changed, it won't change back.]

Is there anyway to make this stick when entering a new note in the future? It seems to be permanent, but only retrospectively.

There's actually no need to even enter a character...

As soon as you open a new note, click the globe icon, then the "Return" key just to the right of the space bar. (which will now be in japanese/chinese etc.)

Hit the globe key again to return to english and you're good to go without the horrendous default felt marker font.

you can also use PhoneView that let you edit Notes on your Mac.

If you copy/paste rich text, formats will be preserved: you can have italic, bold, colored text, in any font!

Huh. I guess Marker Felt doesn't have Japanese characters.

Does it change to Helvetica or Hiragino? The latter is the Japanese font used in Mac OS X.
