Get iTunes 7's Album View back in iTunes 8 Apps
You may think that iTunes 8 has removed the Album View mode from iTunes 7. It's still there, but the activation method has changed. To get it back, put iTunes 8 into List view mode, then click the black arrow on the far left of the column bar to show album artwork (or use View -> View Artwork Column or press Command-G). Then select Album by Artist in the columns (Control-click and add it to the columns if it's not visible) to organize music by album.

[robg adds: Based on the emails and hint submissions I've received on this subject, the changes in iTunes 8 have made some people think that view mode went away, hence, this hint.]

I noticed that if a playlist was last viewed in Album mode in iTunes 7, the new iTunes 8 sets the artwork visible for that playlist in the list mode.

However, this new artwork view is uglier, at least on Windows version. The background of the artwork is grey (instead of white) and the left over area between the last track of that album and the first track of the next album is not left as white space, as in iTunes 7, but has empty lines with alternating background colors.

Has anyone discovered the (unpublished) keyboard shortcut for showing/hiding the Genius Sidebar?

I hate having it at the right, instead of at the bottom, where the Mini Store used to be; the GS limits the horizontal information I can see. This is made more annoying by having to track down to the lower corner to show/hide the GS.

For now, I guess I'll make my own shortcut in QuicKeys.

In iTunes 8.0.2 "Show Genius Sidebar" is in the View menu, with command-shift-g displayed as the keyboard shortcut.

Any idea for how to do this in iTunes (9.2 or later)?

Figured it out: Command + G still works in iTunes 9, but there are no menu items or buttons for album view as far as I can find.

Cmd-G is the menu item View - Show Artwork Column. You can also right click the column headings and choose Artwork.

Never mind, I think I misunderstood your comment. (I'm not really sure what album view is.)
