In Firefox, however, this won't work. Instead, use Option-Return (which also works in the URL bar itself), and you'll get your search results in a new tab or window.

Open Firefox Google searches in new tabs/windows

I always run web searches directly from the toolbar field in my web browsers. In Safari, as explained in this hint, you can search directly in a new window (or tab, depending on your settings) by pressing Command-Enter in the search field.
In Firefox, however, this won't work. Instead, use Option-Return (which also works in the URL bar itself), and you'll get your search results in a new tab or window.

actually my problem isn't with the search bar but behavior with the right click menu. Often times I want to search something else that I have up in a browser window. I can select the text right click and select search in google.

Since Safari 3 came out command-enter doesn't work for me anymore. Besides, it was never as nice as having open in new tab be the default behavior. Anyone know how to bring this to Safari? |
