Assign keyboard shortcuts to NeoOffice menu items

If you use a given NeoOffice menu item all the time, like Tools » Word Count, you may want to assign a keyboard shortcut for it. If you use the Keyboard tab of the Keyboard & Mouse System Preferences panel, however, it will not work when you try to use it in NeoOffice. Instead, you need to do assign a shortcut using NeoOffice's built-in keyboard shortcuts tool. Follow these steps:
- Select Tools » Customize from the menubar. In the new window that opens, click the Keyboard button.
- Choose a key that hasn't been assigned yet in the upper section. Then choose a function in the lower section and click Modify.
- Click Save and save the configuration file somewhere.
- Click Load and open the configuration file you saved, then click OK.
You should be able to use your newly-assigned shortcut now.
[robg adds: Confusingly, using the Keyboard Shortcuts tab looks like it works -- the shortcuts are added to the menu items in NeoOffice, but they don't do anything when invoked. The only problem with the built-in method is that there are a limited number of defined keyboard shortcuts available.]
