Macworld Expo keynote wishes poll posted Site News
We're now 11 days out from the Macworld Expo keynote, so I thought it'd be interesting to find out which product or service you most hope to see revealed at the keynote. Note that this is not supposed to measure what you think is most likely, but rather what you personally most want to see Apple reveal.

For me, it'd be the ultra-portable Mac ... I lamented the passing of the original PowerBook Duos, and I still use my 12" PowerBook G4 quite a bit, but it's getting quite slow by today's standards. So please, something in the three to four pound range, with a decently-sized high-res screen and reasonably fast CPUs would be wonderful...so that's where my vote went :).

I voted "other"...

For me it would be a multitouch tablet that can transform into having a mechanical keyboard on the fly, as shown in Apple patents a few months ago.

I voted for 'ultra small', but I had the same basic idea. The -only- Windows device* I've ever coveted is Windows Notebook, which came close (except for the OS) to the original Dynabook idea from Xerox PARC.

Add touch to that, and you'd really have something cool. I'm looking forward to seeing how the Axiotron works out (both technically and in terms of sales...)

* There have been some cool software companies that have been bought out by Microsoft, most notably Visio and Atomic Games, that have also inspired a bit of envy on my part.

Entry states:

"...this is not supposed to measure what you think is most likely, but rather what you personally most want to see Apple reveal."

Then you should remove the word "predictions" from the subject.

I voted for "all of the above" because I'm greedy like that, but I'm really hoping for is a 2nd gen iPhone with GPS and an ultra-portable lappy/tablet with a touch screen. I know we probably won't see any of that, but if we're wishing...

An iPhone would become attractive to me if it had a "You Are Here" button. Press it, and a map comes up, showing me where I am standing, and letting me bookmark locations, add waypoints, get directions, etc. from there. I suppose that assumes GPS-enabled iPhones. That'd be cool enough for me to shell out the money they want for it.

Of course, I wouldn't buy the iPhone without being able to choose my cell provider, so until they are sold unlocked, I just don't want one.

Other wishes: a tablet iMac that can be used with any WACOM pen, as well as multi-touch with fingers, but that also has a mechanical keyboard of some kind. I don't mind using an external keyboard for it most of the time, but it would suck to be using an onscreen keyboard when I'm away from my desk, which would be often. A keyboard resembling the ones in Apple's laptops would be fine.

I'm not too excited about multitouch tech because I have suffered from RSI disorders for over 10 years, and even an hour of using my MBP's touchpad is too much -- it hurts. I carry a USB optical mouse for that reason. I don't expect I'd actually *want* to touch a screen all day. Bad for my hands and wrists.

I voted for Display updates. It's been how long? almost 2 years with the same mediocre displays. You can't even get a 23" with consistent color.
