10.5: Avoid a Mail crash bug with the Vacation stationery Apps
The bug: If you use the Vacation stationery, then select all placeholder text and delete it, Mail will crash.

To avoid that problem, select the placeholder text and just start typing the replacement text, instead of deleting the placeholder text first. Mail won't crash if you do it this way.

[robg adds: I can confirm both the bug and the fix.]

Uh, this is a workaround, NOT a fix. A fix would come from Apple.

The more important point might be that Apple made stationary for Mail in the first place. Wasteful and stupid. Stationary is a guaranteed way for you to know I will delete email from you without reading it. I promise I will.

Right, because everyone uses email the way you do.

For my "casual" computer friends and family, stationery for email is quite nice for sending out invites to a party or wishing them a happy birthday etc.

I know you might find this scary, but the world is changing, the way we communicate is changing. Who is doing the communicating is changing.

Grow up.

i do agree with you, email is more and more replacing 'snail mail' and being used by a MUCH wider audience.

but you gotta admit, 'stationary' is utter balls! even if it is what people want this day and age! :-)

bryanzak: remember that name. bryan uses the age old technique of attacking and insulting when he feels a finger pointed at him. He feels a finger pointed at him right now because he's part of the "Dumb Demographic" - what the world is changing to according to him.

Note bryan can't contribute to the technology used and abused by himself and his drooling friends; all they can do is use it, abuse it, and drool more.

Parent of parent was right and completely in line. He said merely he would not read stupid mail like this. He's not only completely in line - he shows brains and intelligence. Which of course our friend bryanzak is eternally envious of.

bryanzak's post has been reported. One bryanzak on the net is two too many. Stupidity, brainlessness, arrogance, and aggression always go hand in hand. Mystery, innit?

You reported HIS post?
What's YOUR problem?
His reply was fine - the post he replied to was idiotic and added no value.
If you don't like something - DON'T USE IT.
Good lord, you reported THAT post?

Wow. Don't forget to report mine too.

I haven't tried the offending template mentioned but the same thing happened with some Christmas stationery that I added last month. Took me a few tries before discovering the workaround mentioned here.

Initially I didn't think much of stationery but now find myself using it sparingly for appropriate occasions.
